Winter ladies
Results from August 26.
The ladies were determined not to let the wintery weather spoil their last hit for the season. Once again, the windy conditions made for some “special” shots.
Unfortunately, the battle for the “wooden spoon” was a one sided affair. Lorraine “anniversary girl” Jenner’s depleted Teddies (Helen Durdin and Colleen Allen both on holidays) went down to Di Taylor’s Grizzlys 0-13 to 6-36. Of course this meant that Lorraine, Kerrie Bell and fill-ins Nikki Yates and Julie Bigg were actually grinners, winning the coveted wooden spoon. Di T, Kellie Harrison, Narelle Michael and Ruth Martin were not happy because they won the one they wanted to lose, and took home the raspberries.
With a late withdrawal by Mary Connell due to injury, Melissa Mould’s Koalas and the “mystery” team, Kangaroos played a shortened match with Koalas winning 3-18 to 0-4. Melissa, Valerie Carling and Kevyna Gardner proved too strong for Tina Taylor, Kristin Carling (no mercy from Mum) and Cathy Chapman. Thanks for playing and also providing valuable babysitting talents.
The premiers decider was a nail biter. Pauline Hill’s Pandas took the first two sets against Helen Barry’s Polars. With Pauline and Glenda Shepherd winning a close tiebreak from Helen B and Roanne Georg, and H...
