Uniting Friends gathered together on Thursday, November 21 for a luncheon at the Lower Light Hotel.
Special thanks must go to Rae (and Malcolm) Wilson for the organisation of the day – and asking a few special friends to join in.
Malcolm welcomed everyone as they arrived and guided us all to our seating.
When all had arrived Rae then formally welcomed all and handed it over to myself to give a short devotion on “Everday Miracles” – stating how each day is filled with miracles.
I then followed with a Prayer of Thanks for our food we were about to eat.
Everyone was seated in the specially prepared Christmas themed room that Rae had decorated with Christmas lights and decorations.
While everyone was greeting each other, Rae and Malcolm asked everyone to fill out their thoughts on any special Christmas’ that they had encountered on the back of a Christmas card – either the places they have been in, the company they had shared or just any special memories of Christmas.
The orders were then taken – pork or beef roast, or butterfish with either salad or vegetables.
Not long after, the meals came out and what a meal – and after struggling to get through, Rae then asked us to share what was written on the cards, if you wished, and it was very interesting to hear about the different experiences and memories that some people have had.
It was then time for sticky date pudding – everyone always has room for dessert.
Malcolm then spoke about how Rae was having to step down in the organisation of the Uniting Friends next year and for someone to be able to take on the role of leading the Uniting Friends group.
Rae does put in 100 per cent for Uniting Friends and it is always much appreciated, so I am not sure who will be able to fill this position – but I’m sure Rae will still be around to give help.
Rae then presented the staff of the Lower Light Hotel a beautifully presented gift of her homemade biscuits and thanked them all for their great hospitality on the day.
Rae then proceeded to present everyone a gift of her biscuits. It was great to see so many friends enjoying the fellowship of the Uniting Friends.
The next meeting will not be until Thursday, February 23 so Rae has asked everyone to get their thinking caps on with any ideas that you would like to share over the next year.
Although Rae is stepping down, I am sure that you can please contact her if you have any ideas or special requests for 2025. Contact Rae on 0405 158 121.
